James, Chapter 1

"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!" (Psalm 150:6). Thank you LORD for the blessing of this day, may Your Word go forth and be established in our lives by bearing a bountiful harvest in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

James 1:22 (NKJV)

"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."

Amen, thank you LORD.

As we start this journey in the book of James, I invite you to read chapter 1 in your Bible alongside this post as well, amen.

Today's focus is on being a doer of the Word of God as a child of God. The above Word reminds us that when we only hear the Word of God and not do what it says, we are deceiving ourselves. To be a doer of the Word of God means you respond to what God has done in you through His Son Jesus. For instance, you are at work and your manager assigns you a task that you may not be qualified for. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." The starting point would be asking God for wisdom and believing that You have received it (James 1:6). So with this understanding you do the work or project trusting God to work through you. This is what it means to do the word of God as opposed to only hearing it.

It is important to remember that every promise that God gives us in His Word is yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20) which encourages you to have the confidence that God is indeed with you in whatever it is you have to do by His grace, all for His glory. Your part is to move in faith by relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to help you to be a doer of God's Word.

Prayer: Father, thank you that by Your grace and as a child of God, I am empowered by the Holy Spirit to be both a hearer and a doer of the Word in the name of Jesus. Thank you for equipping me with the wisdom I need for each decision I need to make in the name of Jesus. Thank you Father for removing every obstacle that would distract me from walking and living in Your truth in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

I'll end with this Word found in 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Amen, thank you LORD.

I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
