James, chapter 1 - Part 4

Father, thank you for this is the day that You have made and we shall rejoice and be glad in it. Thank you LORD for the entrance of Your Word brings light. May You LORD provide us with revelation and understanding as we read Your Word and apply it on our lives in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

There is a lot to draw from the wells of salvation with James, chapter 1. The main theme about this chapter is it speaks of the conduct of a believer in the midst of trials. This chapter speaks of having joy, patience, asking God for wisdom in the midst of the trials and having the faith to fully believe that God has provided you with the wisdom that is required for that situation (James 1:2-8). During trials, the Word also speaks of being slow to speak, slow to wrath but swift to hear (James 1:19).

This chapter also continues to speak of the rich and the lowly who should have a right estimation of themselves based on their relationship with God and not based on their presence or absence of wealth (James 1:9-11).

This chapter also continues to give hope to the man who endures temptation for he/she will receive a crown from God. James 1:12 NKJV says, "Blessed is he who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." It is important to remember that Jesus also went through temptations during this earthly ministry but did not sin. So if Jesus was able to successfully withstand temptation by the power of the Holy Spirit, so can you as the sheep of His pasture. Your faith in Christ Jesus qualifies you to partake of all things that have been given to you pertaining to life and godliness as seen in 2 Peter 1:3. This godliness includes the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead according to the Spirit of holiness (Romans 1:4) which Spirit of holiness is also at work in you as God's child. In conclusion, salvation in Christ has given you all you need to live a holy life that is, dead to sin and with the divine ability to endure every temptation of the enemy.

I'll end with the Word found in Ephesians 2:1-10 (NKJV)

1. "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

2. in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

3. among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

4. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which He loved us,

5. even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6. and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7. that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."

8. For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and not that of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

9. not of works, lest anyone should boast.

10. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand that we should walk in them."

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
