John, chapter 2

Jehovah, we praise Your holy name, the One who speaks and it is. The One and Only Mighty God who causes things to be and to become, we glorify your Holy name on this Sunday. The ever Faithful God through all generations, our ancestors called unto You and You LORD God remained true to Your Word - YAH, the I AM that I AM, the LORD God, Creator who has established the heavens and earth. The Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, You who gave Your Beloved and Only Son to the world so that we could have eternal life and relationship with You, who is like you O LORD - there is none. Alleluia, Amen.

Chapter 2 starts off with a wedding celebration at Cana. The first miracle recorded in John's gospel is at a wedding, love it!

Jesus was in attendance at the wedding with His disciples and mother but He had not set out to perform a miracle until His mother, Mary, brought it to His attention. She did this by informing Jesus that there was no more wine for the wedding guests (John 2:3). Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." (John 2:4 NKJV). This did not stop His mother, she instead directed people towards Jesus for His instruction and He miraculously turned the water into tasty wine. Mary was clearly a woman aligned to the ways of God both as her mother and in her relationship with God. Her role was not to only birth the Messiah but to continue to be a good steward over Him as guardian by guiding Him into God's calling and purpose for His life. Again, this reminds us that as much as Jesus was fully God, He was fully human and thanks be to God for His God fearing mother and Joseph.

At the same time, this miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana has many symbolic connotations for our walk with the Lord but today, I'll focus on our relationship with God. When you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, there is a celebration that takes place in heaven where you now become the bride who is in a marriage to a bridegroom, the risen Lord Christ. We are brides individually but we are also collectively brides as a church with Christ as our Groom/Husband (Isaiah 54:5). This is the marriage that Apsotle Paul speaks of in Ephesians 5:31-32, Christ left his mother and Father God in heaven, to be joined with you and I as members of the church so that we could become one flesh with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says he who is joined to the LORD is one spirit with the LORD. Child of God, because you are joined to the LORD, you are inseparable from Him and this is the power of the covenant relationship that we have received from God, the Father because of Jesus. AMEN!

I'll end with this verse found in Ephesians 5:31 (NKJV)

"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to receive Jesus and be born again into God's Kingdom, that is saved and have a personal relationship with God as Your Father and you as His child by receiving His Son, Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, I invite you to say this confession:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

GLORY TO GOD, You are now a new creation in Christ Jesus! In case you have not already, please prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and get WATER BAPTIZED!

If you have not already, please feel free to read chapter 1 and 2 of John's gospel!
