Father God, thank you for this is the day that You have made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it. Amen.

As we go through the book of Leviticus, I would like you to keep in mind the image of Jesus as our forever High Priest today. As always, I encourage you to read Leviticus chapter 13 in your Bibles alongside this post, I believe you will be blessed.

This chapter covers the law the children of Israel especially the priests had to follow concerning leprosy. When someone who was a part of the congregation had a sore, a scab or a swelling, they were brought before Aaron, the priest or to one of his sons, the priests who would then examine the sore (Leviticus 13:1). Leviticus 13:3 (NKJV) says, "The priest shall examine the sore on the skin of the body; and if the hair on the sore has turned white, and the sore appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a leprous sore. Then the priest shall examine him, and pronounce him unclean." After examination, the priest would also isolate one who had a leprous sore for seven (7) days (Leviticus 13:4).

In this chapter, we see the priest as the major person who made the decision on whether both the person and their garments were leprous. If they were found to be leprosy, they would be declared unclean.

The law brings to our attention the importance of garments. When the person was unclean, their garments were most likely unclean as well. We also see that when God through Moses was consecrating the priests (Aaron and his sons) for the work of ministry, he consecrated their garments as well.

The new Testament speaks of garments as well which shows the spiritual significance of garments. Jesus acknowledged that man had needs and often encouraged us to not worry about what we will eat, drink or the clothes to wear for our heavenly Father knows we have all these needs and is well able to meet them. (Matthew 6:30-33). Instead Jesus said, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33 NKJV). When Jesus was sending out his disciples to do the work of God's Kingdom, one of the instructions He shared to do with garments. That is, He instructed them to not to take tunics or pieces of cloth for a worker was worthy of their wages (Matthew 10:10).

Now that Christ has risen from the dead, He gives a garment to all His children who receive Him as Lord and Savior of their lives. This garment that Jesus clothes you with is the garment of salvation, a robe of His righteousness (Isaiah 61:10) and holiness (Ephesians 5:24). In Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV), the LORD's arms are always open to give us His garments and He says, "Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool." As we wear the robe of Jesus' righteousness, holiness and salvation, we are reminded that by His stripes we were healed (1 Peter 2:24) which also includes the healing of leprosy.

I'll end with this Word found in Colossians 3:12 (NLT)

"Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: Jesus Christ in John 14:6 (NKJV) says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." If you would like to be born again, please say this confession with me:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and receive Christ today as I become a part of the Kingdom of light where I choose personal relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

GLORY TO GOD, You are now a new creation in Christ Jesus! In case you have not already, please prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and get WATER BAPTIZED!
