Leviticus, chapter 7

Thank you LORD for this new day, may You give us understanding in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as we read and share the Word in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Leviticus chapter 7 concludes about the laws of the trespass offering, the peace offering that is offered with thanksgiving, the instruction to not eat fat of an animal that naturally dies or is torn by wild beasts (Leviticus 7:24) and drink blood of birds or beasts (Leviticus 7:26-27). The consequence of disobedience with these statute of eating blood was the person would be cut off from his people (Leviticus 7:27). This chapter also speaks of the portion that is given to the Priest, Aaron and his sons. The LORD also gave the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering from the children of Israel's peace offering sacrifices to Aaron and his sons as a statute forever (Leviticus 7:34-35).

In this chapter, I like the mention of thanksgiving in relation to the peace offering given to the LORD. In the thanksgiving offering is also the only time we see the law giving allowance to leavened bread. Leviticus 7:13 NKJV, "Besides the cakes, as his offering he shall offer leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offering." It seemed like it was a joyful affair, there were cakes, wafers oil and leavened bread that were an offering to the glory of the LORD. Can you to think of 5 things you are thankful to God for right now? Write them down and give thanksgiving to the LORD for them.

When God gave these laws to the children of Israel, the people prospered in their relationship with God and in other areas of their lives because they obeyed God. This confirms that the law is good. To further show the beauty of the law given by God through Moses, Moses asked the congregation, "And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?" (Deuteronomy 4:8 NKJV).

At the same time, as much as the law is good, it could not give eternal life. Galatians 3:21 (NKJV) says, "...for if there has been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law."

The law prepared the way for Jesus so that whoever believed in the name of Jesus would receive life and the forgiveness of their sins.

I'll end with this Word found in Romans 3:23-26 (NLT)

  1. "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

  2. Yet God in His grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

  3. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows us that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,

  4. for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: Jesus Christ in John 14:6 (NKJV) says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." If you would like to be born again, please say this confession with me:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and receive Christ today by becoming a part of the Kingdom of light where I choose personal relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

GLORY TO GOD, You are now a new creation in Christ Jesus! In case you have not already, please prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and get WATER BAPTIZED!

As always, I invite you to read chapter 7 of Leviticus in your Bible! - I believe the Word of God will bless you.
