Leviticus, chapter 8

Father, we come in agreement and give praise to Your holy name, the Ancient of Days, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star. The First and the Last, the One who has loved us with an everlasting love with Your arms wide open, welcoming all the prodigal sons through Your Son Jesus, thank you. We worship You and may Your name forever be exalted in all the ends of the earth in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

In this chapter, Aaron and his sons are consecrated for their priesthood ministry by Moses as commanded by God. Moses calls the congregation of the children of Israel and he washes Aaron and his sons with water, puts tunics on them and an ephod and adds a breast plate with Urim and Thummim inside the breast plate (Leviticus 8:6-8). Moses also put a turban on Aaron's head with a holy crown as the LORD had commanded him (Leviticus 8:9). Then there was also a bull to be used as the sin offering. Before Moses offered it as a sacrifice, Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bull (Leviticus 8:14) and Moses used this blood to purify the altar (Leviticus 8:15). Then Moses took a ram as well and this ram was a sweet aroma, an offeirng made by fire to the LORD as commanded by Moses (Leviticus 8:21). There was a second ram, the ram of consecration. Moses killed this ram after Aaron and his sons had placed their hands on the head of the ram (Leviticus 8:22-23). After Moses killed the ram, he used the blood to put it on the tip of Aaron and his sons right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot (Leviticus 8:23-24). The chapter continues to speak of the wave offering, the unleavened bread and in Leviticus 8:30, sprinkling of blood and anointing oil that consecrated the priestly garments of Aaron and his sons. Before His crucifixion on the cross, Jesus in John 12:24 (NKJV) says, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain." Jesus died this painful death on the cross and became the one time perfect sacrifice in the eyes of God (Hebrews 10:12) that whoever would believe in the name of Jesus, whether Jew or non Jew would be saved and have their sins forgiven. The commandments of the law although good did not have the power to save one from sin because those sacrifices reminded people of their sins each year during their offerings for it was not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins (Hebrews 10:3-4). Colossians 1:12-13 (NKJV), expresses the heart of God towards mankind when He sent Jesus and says, "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."

In the law of Moses, what took the washing of water to wash the priests, the blood of bulls offered for the sins of the priests, the rams offered for the consecration of the priests, the wave offerings of bread, God has done and completed it all for you through the Word, His Beloved Son.

While Moses, had to anoint the garments of the priests with anointing oil and the blood of the animal sacrifices to consecrate them as according by the law, now that we are under the grace of the Lord Jesus, we wear robes of Jesus' righteousness as our garments. Ephesians 4:24 (NKJV) reminds us as believers, "and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness." - AMEN.

I'll end with this Word found in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (NKJV)

9. "But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

10. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God."
