Leviticus, chapter 9

3 min read

This is the day the LORD has made, the day of thanksgiving and hope, the day of rejoicing, the day of worshipping the LORD in Spirit and in truth, the day of salvation, the day of breakthrough and deliverance, the day of the forgiveness of sins, the day of redemption, the day of the glory of the LORD revealed in the sons and daughters of men, we are glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

In the previous chapter, Aaron and his sons were consecrated for the priestly office by Moses before the congregation and in chapter 9, their priestly office begins. In this chapter, Aaron offers a kid of the goats as a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb of the first year without blemish as a burnt offering on behalf of the sins of the people (Leviticus 9:3); "also a bull and a ram as peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil; for today the LORD will appear to you." (Leviticus 9:4). Aaron as well had to make an offering for his sins as well and for that he offered a young bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering without blemish before the LORD (Leviitcus 9:2). All this was done in order for the glory of the LORD to appear before the the people. After Aaron followed the commandments of the LORD, indeed the glory of the LORD did appear to the people.

Leviticus 9:22-24 (NKJV) reveals the glory of the LORD and says,

  1. "Then Aaron lifted his hand toward the people, blessed them, and came down from offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, and peace offerings.

  2. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of meeting, and came out and blessed the people. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people,

  3. and fire came out from the before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces."

Amen, thank you LORD.

This chapter reminds us that when one builds according to the pattern and instruction of the LORD God, the glory of the LORD will always appear. Psalm 127:1 (NKJV) says, "Unless the LORD builds a house, they labour in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain." Is there anything that you may feel like is a struggle? If yes, who is the builder, is it you or the Lord Jesus? Today, we are reminded that God desires to be a part of every detail of our lives with Jesus as the foundation. Jesus spoke of the person who hears His sayings and does them. He said this person would be like a wise man who built his house on a rock: "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV). The rock that this house is built on is Jesus.

Prayer: Father, thank you that building according to Your pattern always brings blessing and reveals Your glory upon our lives. Teach us LORD to hear Your sayings and to do them LORD so that our houses can be built on You as the Rock foundation. May we always be men and women that build according to Your pattern for Your applause LORD God and for Your glory in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: Jesus Christ in John 14:6 (NKJV) says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." If you would like to be born again, please say this confession with me:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and receive Christ today as I become a part of the Kingdom of light where I choose personal relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

GLORY TO GOD, You are now a new creation in Christ Jesus! In case you have not already, please prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and get WATER BAPTIZED!
