New creation in Christ

Father God, thank you that the entrance of Your Word gives light. Thank you LORD for the bright shinning light of Your Word that is shinning upon our lives that has redeemed and restored us in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Today's lead Word is from 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Amen, thank you LORD.

In today's post, I'm sharing on a brief synopisis of what it means to be a new creation in Christ.

1. To be able to understand your new creation identity, I believe it helps to appreciate it from both a Jewish and a Gentile's (a non-Jewish person) perspective.

   
   

2. For every Gentile who becomes born again, that is born of God (John 1:13), they not only get to partake of the blessings of Abraham but the blessings of Christ as well. As a result, because you believe in the Lord Jesus and His Son, Christ whom He sent to die for the sins of the world, you are the blessed of the LORD and as a Gentile, you also partake of the blessing of Abraham.

   
   

3. The Jew and descendants of Abraham the other hand who originate from the lineage of Israel, are born blessed. This is because God made a covenant with Abraham, our father of faith that in His offspring all the nations of the world would be blessed (Genesis 22:18). In the end, the Apostle Paul shares a revelation that is offspring/Seed that God is referring to here is Christ (Galatians 2:16).

   
   

4. This means they are all inherently born blessed because of the blessing and covenant that God made with Abraham.

   
   

5. The LORD God establishes His covenant with the twelve tribes of Israel based on Israel's seed, Abraham's grandson.

   
   

6. In the book of Genesis, we also observe there was no law because God's people at the time were blessed people who lived right before God in both their hearts and actions.

   
   

7. During Jacob's lifetime, who is also known as Israel, a famine came into the land of Canaan which meant that God's inheritance had to move to Egypt for provision. Thankfully, God had already sent man before them called Joseph, Jacob's son (Genesis 50:19-21).

   
   

8. After hundreds of years, God's people experienced oppression from their task masters, the Egyptians, and they cried out for God to deliver from the bondage of the enemy.

   
   

9. The LORD God answered their prayer by sending a man called Moses. Moses with God's help led the people out of Egypt, the land of bondage (Exodus 3:15-17). Today, 'Egypt' may also be viewed as an analogy for worldliness and sin that Christ has redeemed us from according to the will of God, the Father.

   
   

10. However, along the journey, it became clear that some of the ways of the Egyptians like their worship of idols, the children of Israel had learned. Their hearts separated from God unlike their forefathers who honoured God.

    
    

11. Now God is a holy God and to be able to deal with this issue, He brought in the law which includes the ten commandments. God's people, the children of Israel had to fulfill the requirements of the law because only then would God be able to dwell among them.

    
    

12. The law was good, holy (Romans 7:12) and spiritual with the power to cleanse the people's sins through rituals of animal sacrifices and different ceremonial washings (Hebrews 9:9-10). The only issue was the people had to repeatedly return in order to be cleansed from their sin because it was not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins (Hebrews 10:3).

    
    

13. As much as the law was good and helpful, it could not deal with the flesh because sin takes place in the flesh. As a result, God sends forth His Son Jesus who died for the sin of the world (John 3:16) thereby defeating the sin of the flesh that leads to death. Romans 8:2 (NKJV) says, "For the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

    
    

14. In Christ's death, every child of God has been made alive to walk in this liberty that Christ purchased for us through His burial, death and resurrection by the power of God.

    
    

15. This resurrection power of God is the one that raised us from the dead and works in mightily in every child of God thereby enabling them to live and walk as sons of God. To this Romans 8:14 (NKJV), "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God."

    
    

16. As a result, we Gentiles have received of this life because we have believed Jesus came from God, the Father and defeated every power of darkness and the enemy. Colossians 1:13-14 (NKJV) says, "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in who we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."

    
    

17. Today, this eternal life is also available for the Jew and descendants of Abraham in spite of the covenant and blessing that God made with Abraham and His descendants. The LORD shares a promise to all His children and says in Hebrews 8:101-13 says, "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their mind and write them in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. None of them shall teach his beighbor, and none his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." - AMEN.

    
    

18. This new covenant with God is established on the eternal precious blood of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 12:24 (NKJV) speaks of our relationship with God that is as a result of the new creation birth and says, "to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel."

    
    

19. This new covenant also means that God no longer remembers your sins and unrighteous deeds anymore (Hebrews 10:2) because you are now a new creation. Being born again is like becoming a new baby where you get another chance to live your life with the help of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16) without blame, spotless and sinless before God's eyes. As a result, every child of God is now one in their relationship with God, the Father.

    
    

20. The eternal life that is found in Jesus is the evidence that God is love (1 John 4:8-9), that God is a good Father and loves all very much.

I'll end with this word found in Romans 8:16-17 (NKJV)

16. "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

17. and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."

Amen, thank you LORD.

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
