Hebrews 10:2 AMP
"For if it were otherwise, would not these sacrifices have stopped being offered? For the worshippers, having once [for all time] been cleansed, would no longer have a consciousness of sin."
Amen, thank you LORD.
What a blessed assurance and holy reminder for God to forgive our sin through salvation found in His one and Only Son, Christ.
As shared in previous posts, sin separated the fellowship and relationship that God had with man according to God's original intention seen in the garden of Eden.
So when God gave the law to His people through Moses, it was meant to help with the issue of sin. However, there was a problem, the blood of bulls and goats could not permanently remove sin (Hebrews 10:4) as there was a fresh reminder of sins every year. That is, the people were always aware of their sin and wrong doings. Hebrews 10:3 AMP puts it better and says, "But [as it is] these [continual] sacrifices bring a fresh reminder of sins [to be atoned for] year after year." Hebrews 10:2 above says, the worshippers had a 'consciousness of sin'.
Under the new Testament, God gives us a new covenant found in the precious blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Under this new covenant, there is no longer an awareness or consciousness of sin because the blood of Jesus Christ washed and cleansed away all our sin. Now with God, there is no variation or sin hierarchy, sin is sin no matter how 'small or 'big'. The LORD says in Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV), "...Though your sins are scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be wool." Only the blood of Jesus Christ has the power to make scarlet sin white as snow and red crimson sin as wool.
God in His infinite mercy, grace and love not only forgives sins, but He also forgets them. This means that when Christ died for the sins of the world (John 3:16) on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection from the dead permanently resolved the sin issue that separated man and God. Unlike in the Old Testament where the worshippers and priests had a consciousness of sin every year as represented by the offerings of blood and bulls. Under the new covenant, the LORD says in Hebrews 8:12 AMP, "For I will be merciful and gracious toward their wickedness, and I will remember their sins no more."
Friend, God does not remember your sin anymore because of what Jesus did for you on the cross. Besides, God is a holy God. If He kept our sins in memory, it would go against His holiness and His nature as a good God and Father. Genesis 1:26 also reminds us that we are created in the image of God. This also means that God has not created His born again child to be aware and conscious of their sin because the precious blood of Jesus Christ has removed your sin nature.
When you repent and become born again, God forgives and forgets your sin because of the blood of Jesus Christ as seen above in Hebrews 8:12. In addition, Psalm 103:12 NLT says, "He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west." God in His love as a Father, desires for all His children to walk in this liberty and freedom from their past mistakes and failures.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to know God as Your Father where you become His child and restored into fellowship with Him through a personal relationship with His One and Beloved Son, Jesus where your sins are forgiven - I invite you to say this confession:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
Congratulations, YOU'VE BEEN REDEEMED by the precious blood of Jesus. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen. In case you do not already, please join a church community and get water baptized!
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the blood of Jesus that has washed and permanently cleansed us from all sin in the name of Jesus. Thank you for the blood of Jesus Christ that speaks greater things on our behalf than the blood of bulls and goats and now there is no longer a consciousness of sin as we serve God with our mind and conscience in the name of Jesus. Thank you LORD that the blood of Jesus Christ also silences every voice of the enemy that causes accusation, guilt, doubt, fear, shame and condemnation over your sons and daughters for this precious blood of the new covenant, speaks greater things over their lives than the blood of Abel that speaks vengeance. Thank you Father for he who the Son sets free is free indeed and Your sons and daughters are declared free from every bondage of the enemy and sin in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
I'll end with this Word found in Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)
"Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever."
Amen, thank you LORD.
