John, chapter 12
Father God, we worship You on this day and say may Your name be magnified and glorified. Jesus prayed in John 12:28 and said, "Father glorify your name and then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have glorified it and will glorify it again." Thank you for You LORD God are glorifying Your Holy name again even now and may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Jesus says in John 12:32 (NKJV)
"And if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all peoples to Myself."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Chapter 12 starts off with people in wonder after they saw Lazarus raised from the dead by Jesus. This miracle increased Jesus' followers and many started to believe in the Word of God after witnessing this miracle. Shortly after this, Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey as many people holding palm branches welcome His presence, singing praises and calling Him King. This was a fulfilment of the prophecy that was written about Him by the prophets, Isaiah and Zechariah expressed in John 12:15 (NKJV) that says "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt."
Everything about Jesus' earthly ministry defied the definitions of royalty and power. Jesus is a King born in a manger (Luke 2:7) also known as an animal feeding trough to Joseph and Mary who came from a humble background. Jesus is a King who came from Nazareth, a town that was not known for anything good (John 1:46). Jesus is a King who did not have chariots and horses or armies of men during His time on earth and here He was entering Jerusalem recognized fully as King by a huge following of people but on a donkey. Jesus is the King who obeyed the will of God, the Father by laying down His life (John 10:17) so that He could draw all peoples to Himself (John 12:32) including the ones who witnessed and saw Him in Jerusalem. Jesus is the King, the Son of God, who stripped Himself of all His deity and power by humbling Himself to the point of death (Philippians 2:8), endured the shame and pain of dying on the cross for a crime He did not commit so that our sins would be forgiven. Jesus did not wait for you and I to first receive Him in our lives or for our sins to first be committed before He could lay down His life, He went to the cross either way and was raised from the dead because He was and is and will always be the embodiment of God's love for the world.
I'll end with this Word found in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 (NKJV)
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God - and righteousness and sanctification and redemption -
that as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the LORD."
Amen, thank you LORD.
