John, chapter 4
Updated: 1 day ago
Father, thank you for Your Word is a lamp onto our feet and a light unto our path in the name of Jesus, Amen.
John 4:10 (NKJV)
"Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink', you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Jesus is on His way to Galilee from Judea but makes a stop over at Samaria (John 4:3-4). In Samaria, Jesus stops by a well and He asks a Samaritan woman for a drink. The above verse shows us Jesus' desire to always be a blessing despite His physical need in the moment. He needed water but he also told the woman, that if she knew who he was, she would ask for living water which would also never leave her thirsty again (John 4:10). There is so much of God's love portrayed in John chapter 4. If Jesus had said this phrase to a religious leader they probably would have wondered what He meant. However, this woman who had been married five times and was at the time living with a man who was not her husband (John 4:18) understood exactly what Jesus meant when He said He would give her water that would take her thirst away. I believe this woman had a longing in her soul that nothing in the world could fill anymore except the love of God that is found in Christ. I believe for the kind of pain and discouragement that this woman was going through, she had to be able to meet God not through a crowd of people but by herself so that she would know and receive God's love for her. Her encounter with Jesus personalized God's love for her reminding that she was still valuable and seen. She later on goes to tell everyone in her town about Jesus and the people in Samaria believed in Jesus because of her testimony for she said, "...He told me all that I ever did." (John 4:39). Jesus stayed in the town of Samaria for an extra two days and many other people believed He was the Savior of the world after they heard Him speak (John 4:40-42).
The part of her life that once brought her shame and guilt, after her personal encounter with Jesus, her story now brought freedom and liberty.
I'll end with the LORD's Word found in Acts 10:15 (AMP)
"And a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed and pronounced clean, no longer consider common (unholy)."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to receive Jesus and be born again into God's Kingdom, that is saved and have a personal relationship with God as Your Father and you as His child by receiving His Son, Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, I invite you to say this confession:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
