Father God, this is the day that the LORD has made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV)
"So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
Amen, thank you LORD.
In the book of Acts, when the early believers received the gift of the Holy Spirit, they started speaking in new tongues as one of the signs and they increased in number and grew in community. The community aspect is the main focus of this post. They broke bread and eat their food together everyday with gladness and simplicity of heart. Their first thought was not, do we have enough space to host people? They did not need the cleanest house. They did not need a three course meal ready to invite the guests. They were simply interested in community, fellowship and rejoicing in the blessing of the LORD's presence over their lives.
Another aspect I like about this text is they did not wait for Sunday or the Sabbath day to go to temple or church, they gathered together and prayed everyday as a church family in their homes. Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV says, "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner, of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Ephesians 5:23 also reminds us that we as a body of believers, are a church which means the church of God is not limited to a physical building but to each individual member of the body.
Does this mean that we do not have to go to church because we meet in our homes? - The simple answer is no. Kindly attend your respective Sunday service at your home church! I believe the main point about the above Scriptures is and will always be Jesus is our real treasure and true prize. Matthew 13:44 says, "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." - AMEN. As a result, when we gather together to worship Him and pray together as a church both in and outside the church building, the more we stir up our spirits to be edified and grow together as a body of believers.
I'll end with this Word found in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (NKJV)
"For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus in the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat, this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to be born again into God's Kingdom, that is saved and have a personal relationship with God as Your Father and you as His child by receiving His Son, Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, I invite you to say this confession with me:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
Congratulations, YOU'VE BEEN REDEEMED by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen. In case you do not already, please join a church community and get water baptized!
