Praise the LORD family. We thank God for His mercy and love that endures forever. Amen.
Today, I'm sharing concerning God's Word with the letters written by Apostle Paul as inspired by the Holy Spirit to the church at Corinth. These letters are packed with truth that I believe we all need today. The Corinthian church was a very gifted church. The church at Corinth was so blessed and operated in the gifts of the Holy Spirit to the point the Apostle had to call the house to order by encouraging them to observe order in the house of the LORD (1 Corinthians 14:40).
However, as much as this church was gifted in the ways of the Spirit, the enemy crept in with the influence and the ways of the world. In this letter, Apostle Paul teaches and reminds them of the wisdom of this world versus the wisdom of God. It is in this letter, the Holy Spirit through Apostle paul reminds us that Jesus Christ is the power and wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). He does this to remind the church to stay grounded in Christ and His ways and to reject the knowledge of the world. James 4:4 (NKJV) says, "Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."
Apostle Paul also reminds the church that their bodies are a temple of God. That is, "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This was because of sexual immorality that was among some of the church members.
When the enemy crept in with worldliness to the body of Christ, Apostle Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit shared with the church the knowledge and grace that is found in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This knowledge serves the purpose of course correcting the believer into the truth of their true identity in Christ and to live from the reality of this truth. Furthermore, Apostle Paul shares his sufferings (2 Corinthians 1:3-6) and the weakness of his flesh (2 Corinthians 12:9) to reveal the power of God's grace operating on his life that helped him function in the ministry the LORD had entrusted him.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." God comforted them so that we could all be comforted. If God's grace had the power to save and keep him from sin, it still has the same power today to keep you from sin as well.
In these letters, the LORD also reveals the revelation of the mystery of God's love found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 to the body of Christ.
All of this is to say, "...where sin abounded, grace abounded much more." (Romans 5:20) and we see that the love of God found in Christ who is the power and wisdom of God combined with grace is a powerful cure against worldliness.
At the same time, these letters also clearly show us that God's love and grace is not to be dismissed but rather it is meant to convict and empower the life of a believer to godly repentance (2 Corinthians 7:11) and to receive the power of God that is able to keep them without spot or blemish to fulfill their God ordained calling. Jesus' heart is reflected in Ephesians 5:27 (NKJV) and He says, "that He may present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that should be holy and without blemish." - AMEN, thank you LORD.
I'll end with God's Word found in 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NKJV)
"4. I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus,
that you were enriched in every thing by Him in all utterance and all knowledge,
even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
AMEN, thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: When you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour of your life, you also receive the comfort and the Help of the Holy Spirit. If this sounds like you, I invite you to believe with your heart and confess with your mouth the words below;
"I believe with my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to die for my sins. Today, I receive Jesus as the Lord and Saviour of my life who has delivered me from every power of darkness into the Kingdom of God's love. I am now a new creation in Christ Jesus. I am free and whole. My past trespasses and all my sins are forgiven by my Father God. And every disease and iniquity is healed by Jesus' stripes. AMEN."
