God is love

Father, thank you for the blessing of a new day. Thank you Father for the blessing of a new season, that Your sons and daughters are here and alive for such a time as this. We give you all honour and praise and ask that You give us understanding, may the heart be good ground to bear fruit as the Word goes forth in the name of Jesus, Amen.

God is love and whenever I think of God's love, I'm always humbled. Jesus shared with us two of the greatest commandments one of which is to love your neighbour as you love yourself. I believe the Lord is saying something important here that the love you have for yourself has the potential to affect (positively or negatively) the love you may share or give to your neighbour or the people around you. You cannot give what you do not have and if you do feel compelled to give what you do not have, it is only a matter of time before you resign to frustration. However God provides a solution for this and it is found in spending time reading God's Word. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of the soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

At the same time, as a child of God who has received salvation with God as your Father, there is a false "love" that you may have to be cautious about especially the one that disqualifies yourself for God's blessings and callings.

In the book of Judges is a story of a man, Gideon, who had a great call on his life as seen in Judges chapters 6-8. When God had called him and told him that he would lead God's people out of the oppression of their enemies, he looked at himself and did not think that he was worthy of the assignment. However, when God came to Gideon, He called him a mighty man of valor (Judges 6:12). God called Gideon based on how He created him and in reference to the purpose and assignment He had prepared for his life. Friend, this is God's love for you.

Finally, he agreed with the LORD God's Word and the children of Israel won a great victory against their enemies because Gideon stepped into the man God created him to be despite the negative circumstances surrounding him at the time (Judges 6:15).

Judges 8:28 tells us, "Thus Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted their heads no more. And the country was quiet for forty years."

So is there anything that God has called you to? Friend, the people God has called you to are ready and waiting for you. Disqualifying yourself based on your natural abilities or circumstances instead of who Christ says you are is not loving yourself, it is a distraction and destruction of God's destiny and calling upon your life. Have faith in God because only He has the power to qualify and equip you for the calling He has prepared for you if you will trust Him as you step out based on His Word or instruction to You.

As a result, we are reminded that God is love and all the plans He has concerning your life are good. He will not lead you to a place where His presence has not already gone before you.

I'll end with this Word found in 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Prayer: Father, thank you that Your love is a firm foundation for the relationship we have with You found in Christ. Thank you Father for Your sons and daughters that are stepping out in their callings and all the plans and purposes You have prepared for their lives with the full knowledge and awareness that You love them and You will never leave them nor forsake them in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Invitation to salvation: God in His expression of love towards man sent forth His One and Only Son in whom is the forgiveness of sin. In the blood of Christ, we are reconciled in relationship to God and have direct access to Him as our Father. If you would like to receive the gift of the abundant life which is found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, please say this prayer below;

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.
