God's precious one

Father God, thank you for Your Word. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1). May Your Word come alive in and around every detail of our lives. May faith grow in our hearts and may the heart be good ground for the Word to bear a harvest for Your glory in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Today's Word is from John 1:14 (NKJV)

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Today's post brings to our knowledge that God values every single creation He made. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus reminds us how God looks out and feeds the birds of the air and at the end, He asks a question, "Are you not much more valuable than they?" (Matthew 6:26 NIV).

In Job chapter 39, we see God's infinite wisdom ask Job some really tough questions such as, "Do you know the time when the wild mountain goats bear young? Or can you mark when the deer gives birth? Can you number the months that they fulfill? Or do you know the time when they bear young? They bow down, they bring forth their young, they deliver their offspring" (Job 39:1-4). When you read Job 39, it reveals the special attention that God pays to the different parts of His creation. Just when Job thought he was wise enough to question God's ways, God revealed another layer of His wisdom that was too great, above question and beyond human reasoning.

However, despite God's love for the birds, the plants, the insects and the animals, God did not send His Beloved Son, Jesus to die for their sins. But God sent Jesus for you because that is how much you mean to Him. You are God's precious one.

In the gospel of Luke is a woman who met Jesus while He was invited for dinner at a Pharisees house. Luke 7:37 describes her as "woman in the city who was a sinner" which shows that whatever wrong or sin she committed was most likely well known by everyone in the city. It reads, "Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil." This woman when she saw Jesus, started weeping and began to wash His feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair on her head and kissed His feet and anointed them with fragrant oil (Luke 7:38). The people around Jesus were appalled and one of the Pharisees spoke to himself saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner." (Luke 7:39).

Earlier on, Jesus was asked the reason He would spend time with tax collector's and other people that were deemed in society as "unworthy". He responded that He did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32). This woman whose sin was well known in her community is a reminder that God's love found in His Son Christ knows no boundaries.

This woman is an example of a precious one that God had in His heart when He sent Christ, the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Friend, this is the beauty of God's grace that gives us beautiful things we never worked for or earned. God did not send grace and truth to the animals that He also dearly loves as we have seen above but He sent His Beloved Son to you because that is how much you mean to God.

In the story of the above sinful woman who became a saint, we see that Jesus commended her faith (Luke 8:50) and I believe it is because she knew that Jesus' love and mercy concerning her would not fail despite her many sins. Sometimes, the greatest faith is believing that if I turned my heart to God and received His love, His love would embrace me, cleanse me and make me whole again. King David prayed to God in Psalm 19:12 (NKJV), "Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults." In the New Testament, Jesus is the water of the Word that cleanses all who believe in Him. Ephesians 5:26 AMP says, "so that He might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God].

Jesus continues to speak to His hosts and says to them regarding this precious one in God's eyes and in Luke 7:45-48 (NKJV)

45."You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.

46.You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.

47.Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."

48.Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."

AMEN, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: As God's precious one, if you would like to know and experience this love of God that no waters can quench and no floods can drown, this love that would despise the wealthiest of a man's house concerning you (Song of Solomon 8:7), I invite you to make this confession, "I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour today and forever." AMEN!

Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17). To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
