Good conscience toward God

Father, we thank you for the Word that sanctifies us into truth in the name of Jesus, Amen.

1 Peter 3:21-22 (NKJV)

"21.There is also an antitype which now saves us - baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ

22.who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him."

Amen, thank you LORD.

I have shared on the different ways that God saves, empowers, enables us to live holy lives to mention some previous title posts. All this is to remind us that salvation is a work of God. It is not a work of human effort or crafted by human will and today's lead Scripture confirms this as well.

In Peter 3:21-22 above, Apostle Peter is referring to God's sovereign work when it comes to salvation. In this particular instance, he shares on the answer of a good conscience toward God. When you received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, that answer of a good conscience towards God's ways was given to you as a gift when you become born again. It does not depart from you because you have been born again for three or twenty years.

The word conscience has a few meanings (which I encourage you to check out). However, for our context, I believe the conscience God is referring to here is an inner knowing concerning good. To reiterate, God has freely given every child of His this good conscience toward Him in Christ Jesus. This good conscience frees you from sin that brings guilt, condemnation and shame.

Titus 1:15 says, "To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled." When you continually press into God's ways by reading the Word, you are feeding and developing your spirit man which amplifies God's work in you when it comes to the good conscience that one receives when they become born again.

In the book of Genesis, we see a story of a man called Noah whose ways pleased the LORD God. As a result, God saved him, his family and animals from the flood that had covered the earth.

In Genesis 9:12- 15 NKJV "And God said: "This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living thing creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud' and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh."

Today, God, the Father is showing us that He is still keeping this covenant that He promised Noah thousands of generations ago through a good conscience and salvation for everyone who believes in His Son. This is because in Christ Jesus, just like Noah's ark, we are saved from God's wrath.

Finally, it is important to note that Peter is not referring to water baptism in 1 Peter 3:21 above. At the same time, we see the same waters that were used as a symbol of God's wrath are now used as a symbol of God's life through Jesus. 1 John 5: 8 NKJV says, "And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one." Family, God truly kept His covenant with Noah and faith in Jesus Christ and His resurrection is the proof.

Invitation to salvation: God in His expression of love towards man sent forth His One and Only Son in whom is the forgiveness of sin. In the blood of Christ, we are reconciled in relationship to God and have direct access to Him as our Father. If you would like to receive the gift of the abundant life which is found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, please say this prayer below;

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.

PRAISE GOD, THE LORD HAS REDEEMED YOU!- Amen.

In case, you have received God's free gift of salvation, join a church community and get water baptized.
