Grace & humility

Father God, we thank you for the entrance of Your Word brings light. May that light shine forth in every life and in every dark place in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

In a previous post, I shared on how grace is the embodiment of the finished works of Jesus Christ. I also shared on the power of God that rested on the apostles of the early church as they walked in grace. They went lower and lower in order for the power of God to be revealed through their lives. They also went lower in order for the grace of God to rest on them because when they were weak, then they were strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). That is, strengthened by God Himself. Lower in this context may refer to what John the Baptist said, "He must become greater and greater and I must become less and less." (John 3:20 NLT). John the Baptist said this about his ministry when compared to Jesus' ministry.

For this post, I believe Jesus is the best example of grace and humility in operation at the same time. Jesus as much as He is the Son of God ensured that it was only the Father that was revealed during His earthly ministry. There had to be none of Him but of all God, the Father. With Jesus' great power and authority, came great humility. This is the reason Jesus in John 14:9 could confidently say to His disciples, "He who has seen me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father?"

Jesus embodied the nature of the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit. In John 5:19, Jesus says, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner." As a result, Jesus became love and still is the representation of God's love for the world because God is love.

Psalm 130:4 illustrates a dimension of God's love and says, "But there is forgiveness with You that You may be feared."Friend, this is how much you are loved by God.

As much as Jesus was fully God with all of the power of heaven backing Him, He always made it clear that He did not come to destroy but to save man. In Luke 9:52-56, Jesus went to a town that did not receive Him. His disciples were not amused about this so they asked Jesus, if they could call fire down from heaven to consume them. I imagine in astonishment, Jesus said to them, "But He turned and rebuked them and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them and they went to another village." The reason Jesus was not welcomed in this town was because His heart was set for Jerusalem (Luke 9:53).

Apostle Paul models Jesus' pattern of grace & humility and in 2 Corinthians 10:8 says, "For even if I should boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for for edification and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed-" The primary function of the authority God has bestowed on you, His chosen sons and daughters is for building and edifying the church of Jesus Christ.

AMEN, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: God in His expression of love towards man sent forth His One and Only Son in whom is the forgiveness of sin. In the blood of Christ, you are redeemed from the power of darkness and reconciled in relationship to God where He becomes your Father. If this sounds like you, please say this prayer with me;

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.

PRAISE GOD, THE LORD HAS REDEEMED YOU!- Amen.

For everyone who had received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, please become a member of a church and get water baptized. God bless you.
