John, chapter 5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has given to us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places because we are united with Christ Jesus, Amen.
John 5:45-47 (NKJV)
"Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you - Moses in whom you trust.
For if you believed Moses you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.
But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"
Amen, thank you LORD.
After sharing from the book of Leviticus, the Gospel of John helps us to have a better understanding of the knowledge of the books of Moses that contained LORD's law and commandments with the eyes of His grace, mercy and truth. The above Scriptures is the Word of God spoken by Jesus to the Jews. Jesus is in effect confirming that the law has never been the problem but rather the state of the heart. Jesus tells them that if they truly believed the words written by Moses, they would believe in Him as well (John 5:46) because the same God that gave the law and commandments is the same God that sent His Beloved Son to die for the sins of the world (John 3:16).
The Old Testament has people, who did not have a direct link to the lineage of Abraham through Isaac, but because they believed in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob with their hearts, they became the people of God. For instance, Rahab, a prostitute who was a non Jew rescued and saved God's people and today she is among the lineage of Jesus (Matthew 1:5). Ruth, a Moabite widow with a family tree of idol worshippers left her birth land to be with Naomi and believed in her God, the God of Israel (Ruth 2:11) and today she is among the lineage of Jesus as the great grandmother of King David.
Also, in order for Abraham to be considered as our father of faith today, he had to believe God in his heart by getting out of his country and family to go to a land that God would show him to make him a great nation (Genesis 12:1-2). Romans 2:29 (NKJV) reminds us, "but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."
It is not where you are from, what you have done or what happened in your past, it is about where you are now and whether your heart can believe God to change your life story through receiving eternal life and redemption that is found in His Son, Jesus Christ.
I'll end with this Word found in John 5:24 (NKJV)
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Let's pray: Abba Father, thank you for Your salvation found in Christ that has forever changed my life. Thank you for consecrating and circumcising my heart according to Your plans and purposes for my life with Jesus as the author and finisher of my faith in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: If you would like to receive Jesus and be born again into God's Kingdom, that is saved and have a personal relationship with God as Your Father and you as His child by receiving His Son, Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, I invite you to say this confession:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
