Leviticus, chapter 21

2 min read

Praise the LORD family. This is the day that the LORD has made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus, Amen.

In the previous chapters 19 and 20, the LORD instructed the congregation of the children of Israel regarding holiness. In chapter 21, the LORD is specifically instructing the priests about holiness. For example, the LORD instructed the priests on the type of woman they should marry (Leviticus 21:7 and 24) and to not make cuttings in the flesh (Leviticus 21:5) or to defile themselves by coming in proximity with dead bodies.

In the New Testament, holiness is no longer based on a set of requirements but holiness is now based on faith in Jesus. Ephesians 1:4 AMP speaks of God's love for us and says, "just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight."

Some scriptures are simply too beautiful to add anything and this one of them. The LORD God is reminding us of the holiness that believers have in the new covenant. This holiness God has always made ready for us. He was simply waiting for us to receive it by having faith in Jesus Christ. The holiness that had to be met by religious obersvances and laws in the Old Testament, now holiness is by faith, that inner knowledge that You are God's beloved because you have believed in the name of His Son Jesus. Not only does God tell us that He has made us holy but that we are also blameless in His sight so where the enemy may have used guilt, shame and fear to condemn you, today may you be reminded that you are blameless in God's eyes. It gives God great pleasure to have you as His child and He loves to be your Father so let's rejoice in the salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. AMEN.

Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV)

  1. "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit,

  2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: The best gift that Jesus gave us is receiving salvation and eternal life which is a personal relationship knowing God as our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.

If you would like to receive this free gift of God's salvation, please say this prayer with me:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that God sent His One and only Son who died for my sins and was raised from the dead so that I could have eternal life." Amen
