Leviticus, chapter 22
Praise God family, we thank the LORD for the blessing of this beautiful Sunday. This is the day that the LORD has made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
This chapter is a continuation of chapter 21 where the LORD continues to instruct the priests concerning their conduct. In this chapter, the LORD still warned of uncleanness and from my understanding this uncleanness may be categorised into uncleanness by conduct and uncleanness by the flesh. When it came to the uncleanness of the flesh and body, the priest was to wash with clean water and they would also not be allowed to eat any of the holy offerings until this happened (Leviticus 22:6). The LORD through Moses also instructed Aaron and his sons to not accept animals for sacrifice that had physical defects (Leviticus 22:25).
After Jesus has come, in the new Testament, the burden is no longer on man to keep themselves. It is on God. When it comes to salvation, every born again child of God is kept by the power of God (1 Peter 1:5) and not our human efforts. The washing of running water will not keep one clean nor burnt offerings and sacrifices wash away one's sins because the blood of Jesus Christ on which the new convenant is what cleanses us and makes us right with God today. Our worthiness is based on what the Son of God, Jesus Christ has done and finished for us on the cross.
Can you imagine if God had to look at every single mistake and defect in the lives of His children, none of us would be able to attain the standard of holiness that God requires but thankfully He has made it easy for us in Christ Jesus. When you receive Christ, you become a new creation, where all things are made new and the your past is forgiven by God and wiped away. Yes, when you receive Jesus Christ, all your past mistakes are gone, God does not remember them or keep an account them, your sins are completely forgiven and now you are reconciled in this love relationship with God that is found in His Son, Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (NKJV) says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation."
Where the priests in the Old Testament washed uncleanness with running water, today in the New Testament, we are washed and renewed in our understanding and ways of thinking with the water of God's Word (Ephesians 5:26). This word of God we read and washes us is Christ (John 1:1 and Hebrews 1:8-9) and His work in the born again child of God.
As always, I encourage you to read this chapter in your Bible, what a blessing!
I'll end with this Word found in Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works and that my soul knows very well."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: The best gift that Jesus gave us is receiving salvation and eternal life which is a personal relationship knowing God as our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
If you would like to receive this free gift of God's salvation, please say this prayer with me:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that God sent His One and only Son who died for my sins and was raised from the dead so that I could have eternal life." Amen
If you just said this prayer, GLORY TO GOD, you are now a new creation in Christ Jesus! In case you have not already, please prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and get WATER BAPTIZED!
