Leviticus, chapter 26
Father God, thank you for the blessing of a new day and new month. This is is the day that the LORD has made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it. As we read today's chapter, we ask for wisdom, understanding and its application in our lives as we read and meditate on the Word in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Leviticus 26:11-12 (NKJV)
"I will set my tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people."
Amen, thank you LORD.
In this chapter, the LORD God through Moses is speaking to His people and giving them the promise of His blessing in the land that they were going to. My focus today will be on the above two verses where God promised to be among His people. The children of Israel were people who knew and had seen the physical presence of God. He rescued them from bondage, parted and created ways in the Red Sea where they were no ways so that they would never have to see their enemies again (Exodus 14:13-14), the LORD God gave them bread in the form of manna everyday from heaven, fought their battles and defeated their enemies in the wilderness, gave them water to drink from the Rock and also guided them with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day as they journeyed through the wilderness (Exodus 13:21). Whereas the they were able to witness the physical presence of God in the wilderness through great miracles, signs and wonders, God was preparing and re assuring their hearts that His presence would still be with them just not in the same way. For example, when they got to the promised land, the manna (bread) from heaven stopped dropping down from heaven every morning when they ate some of the produce in the land of Canaan (Joshua 5:12).
In the new Testament, the gospels show us Jesus' life and ministry on the earth. They also show us that before Jesus' resurrection, His death and crucifixion on the cross, left His disciples completely dioriented and helpless. In fact Peter and John, some of His close disciples, returned to their profession as fishermen despite the Messiah's prior caution that He would depart from them. Unknown to the disciples, Jesus' departure was only the beginning for the glory of the LORD revealed upon their lives and the formation of the early church. Before Jesus went to the cross, He spoke comfort to them and to every believer that, "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." (John 14:18 NKJV). The only way this would happen is through the ministry of the Helper. Jesus in John 14:15-16 (NKJV) says, "If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you and forever-"
I believe it is best to read John 14:15 and 16 together because it appears that with keeping the commandments of the LORD came His presence through the ministry of the Helper. Leviticus chapter 26 shares the same Message where we see that obedience to God's commandments and statutes resulted in the LORD's blessings upon the lives of His people which also included the blessing of His presence.
I'll end with Jesus Word found in John 6:32-33 (NKJV)
"Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: The best gift that Jesus gave us is receiving salvation and eternal life which is a personal relationship knowing God as our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that God sent His One and only Son who died for my sins and was raised from the dead so that I could have eternal life." AMEN
