The LORD's arm

Praise the LORD family. We thank God for the blessing of a new day and for His mercies that are new everyday in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Have you ever noticed that when a child is playing with their parent, let's say they are attempting to jump from an elevated point so that their dad would catch them, the child has no fear in them. The child at all points expects that their dad would catch them when they jump. Another example is flinging a child in the air, now if they are a baby, they will not have the awareness or the gravity of the flinging but if they are a toddler and above, they will have a better understanding of this flinging and this is what makes it fun. The fun of being thrown up in the air is one thing for the child but the person who is also doing the flinging is another aspect. Most times, a child has to know the person who is doing the flinging which in this case is either dad or mom. When the child knows the person, this means they can also trust the person. How do we know that the child trusts them? - Because at no point does it ever occur in this child's mind that their parent will drop them out of their hands especially when it is a healthy parent child relationship.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." God desires to be a Father that His children can trust that it is safe to be in His arms as seen in the above example. Jesus in the gospel of Luke 11:13 compares and contrasts the relationship between a dad and a child and one between God as a Father and us. He says, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

Today, God is reminding us that He is a good Father and that He can also be trusted to give good and perfect gifts (James 1:17) that are everlasting. The Person of the Holy Spirit is an example of a good and perfect gift that the Father has given to His children. When the apostles of the early church received the Holy Spirit, their lives were completely transformed to the point that people could not recognize their old self because they had become a new creation. For example in Acts 4:13, "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus." The once untrained and uneducated men were now confident, bold, doing signs and wonders because they followed Jesus and yielded to the gift of the Holy Spirit to the glory of Father's Kingdom. Just like a child can trust that their parent will not drop them out of their arms as they fling them into the air, you can also trust that God will not drop you out of His arms regardless of your circumstances. At the same time, just like in human relationships, you will be closest to the person you mostly spend your time with. Spending time in God's Word enables you to develop your intimacy with God, the Father, the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit which in turn reinforces your identity as a child of God and trusting in God as your good Father.

I'll end with this Word found in Psalm 118:16 NLT

"The strong right arm of the LORD is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the LORD has done glorious things!"

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to know about God as Your the Father who from the beginning of creation has always loved you and desires to commune with you through a personal relationship with His only Son Christ who has given you victory over sin and through Him, we have the blessings of the new covenant and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

If this sounds like you - I invite you to speak this confession:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

Congratulations, by grace you are saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life (2 Corinthians 5:17) . To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen. In case you do not already, please join a church community and get water baptized!
