The gospel of John

Father God, the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega. Thank you LORD God for this journey in the gospel of John. Holy Spirit may you lead and guide the way as we read and meditate on the Word in the name of Jesus. May the eyes of our understanding be enlightened so that we may know and understand the hope of our calling and continue to walk in it with wisdom and grace in the name of Jesus. For those who may be reading this gospel for the first time, thank you LORD that their hearts are open to receive the fullness of Your love for them found in the knowledge of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. May they know they are loved. May they know that their sins are forgiven in the name of Jesus. May the Bible come alive as we read it, may You write each Word on our heart for You O LORD say in Hebrews 10:16, "For I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them." Thank you LORD that in everything, Your name is glorified in our lives, in our families, our churches, communities and nations in the name of Jesus, Amen.

John 1:1-5 (NKJV)

1. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2. He was in the beginning with God.

3. All things were made through Him, and without him nothing was made that was made.

4. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

5. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."

Amen, thank you LORD.

In the beginning, when the earth was empty, without form, void and dark, God spoke the Word and with His Word, He created light (Genesis 1:1-3). The Word of God that created the world was Christ for all things were made through Him as seen above in John 1:3.

When you become born again and receive Jesus, you receive both His life and light. Jesus says you are the light of the world, a city on a hill that cannot be hidden, a lampstand that gives light to all that are in the house (Matthew 5:14-15). Jesus continues to say, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 NKJV). As a child of God, one of the ways your light shines before men is growing in your knowledge of Christ through His Word. This is because God's Word is Christ Himself as seen in John 1:1 that tells us that the Word of God is God. The Word of God may also be compared to a seed that grows on the inside of you by giving you an understanding, renews your mind and transforms your heart by enabling you see things the way God sees. Take for a instance, "a mustard seed which when it is sown in the ground, is smaller than the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade." (Mark 4:31-32 NKJV).

When you read the Word of God, you are in turn watering the seed of the implanted Word, which is Christ in you.

I'll end with this Word found in 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NKJV)

9. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

10. who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."

Invitation to salvation: The best way to know god's love is to receive the free gift that Jesus gave us is salvation and eternal life found in a personal relationship with God as our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life.
