Father God, we love You because You first loved us. Give us understanding as we read the Word and may the Word renew our minds and transform our hearts in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
John 9:31-34 (NKJV)
31."Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshipper of God and does His will, He hears Him.
32."Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind.
33."If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing."
34.They answered and said to him, "You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?" And they cast him out."
Amen, thank you LORD.
This passage is a response from a man whose eye sight had been healed by Jesus. There was a dispute between him and the Jews where some of the Pharisees argued that if Jesus was from God, then He would not perform a miracle on the Sabbath day (John 9:16). The law given by God through Moses instructed the people to do no work because it was a considered a holy day of rest by the LORD (Exodus 20:8-11).
On the other hand, Jesus during His ministry did many works on the Sabbath. Jesus cautioned the Pharisees and the Sadducees for their self-righteousness where they were more concerned about fulfilling certain aspects of the law while neglecting weightier matters of the law such as justice, mercy and faith (Matthew 23:23). This means that in God's eyes, extending mercy and grace by healing a man born blind would be more important than keeping the requirements of the Sabbath.
It is also important to note that after Jesus ascended to the Father, the Sabbath day is no longer limited to a day but a heart posture of rest. Hebrews 4:9-10 says 9)"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10)For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. From this portion of Scripture, may I submit to you that rest is not only a time to take a break but it is a posture we take on as children of God, resting in our Abba Father's love and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Invitation to salvation: God is love and He loves you and His arms are open wide just to receive you. Jesus in Matthew 18:12 says, that He would leave the ninety nine to go find that one lost sheep. There is no need for perfection because Jesus Christ was made to be perfection on your behalf by God, the Father. If you would like to receive this free gift of salvation that is found in God's Son, Jesus Christ who is also the bread of life;
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.
