Father God, we thank you for this day and for every waking moment of our lives, You who watches over us without sleeping and slumbering. We give you all the honor and praise and say may Your name be magnified over all the ends of the earth and in our lives in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

In today's post, I share on the importance of meditating on the Word of God.

Under the law, the people read the statutes of the law including the ten commandments to remind themselves of God's power and might, His instruction concerning their walk with them and conduct of life. Moses their leader, and the person whom the LORD used to give the law to the people, instructed the adults as per the LORD's decree to sit down with their children and remind them of the great works that God had displayed to His people because He loved them (Deuteronomy 6:7). Some of these great works included rescuing them from bondage in Egypt and all of their enemies leading up to the promised land. I believe this testimony of God's mighty salvation kept the awe and reverence of God alive in the people's hearts across generations. After Moses' death, the LORD God appointed Joshua as His people's new leader (Deuteronomy 31:7). In order to fulfill the assignment of leading the children of Israel to the promised land, the LORD God in Joshua 1:8 NKJV says, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success."

Under the new covenant of grace and truth introduced by the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the Apostle Peter, an apostle of the early church and one of Jesus' disciples reminds us in 2 Peter 1:2 (NKJV), "Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord." What Apostle Peter is sharing with us is after we give our lives to Christ by receiving salvation, it is equally as important to continually give ourselves to growing in the knowledge of grace and peace that is found in Jesus Christ. Romans 12:1-2 NKJV says, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

I believe the best way to renewing one's mind is by reading your Bible everyday, listening to and reading good teachings about the truth of God's Word. Another important step is setting aside time to read your Bible without interruption. Honor God with your time. Always remember to first invite the Holy Spirit to help you understand God's Word before you read and meditate on it. I recommend writing down Scriptures that may be standing out to you as you read the Bible.

When you are "fully convinced" of your growth in the knowledge of the Word, maybe you have read your Bible cover to cover, that may be the perfect time to continue growing in knowledge by beginning again. In Philippians 3:12, as God's children we are encouraged by Apostle Paul's experience, "Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me."

May the wonder of God's Word never depart from us all the days of our lives in the name of Jesus, Amen.

In case you are wondering, if this means you no longer read the law found in the Old Testament? - The simple answer is no. This is because both the Old and New Testament embody the full revelation and counsel of God, the Father which also includes the knowledge of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:20 (NKJV) reminds us how Christ has always existed from the beginning. It reads, "He was indeed foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you." In Matthew 5:18 NKJV, Jesus reminds us of the legality of the law and He says, "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

Let's end meditating on this Word found in 1 John 4:4 (NKJV)

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

AMEN, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: God is love and He loves you and His arms are open wide just to receive you. Jesus in Matthew 18:12 says, that He would leave the ninety nine to go find that one lost sheep. There is no need for perfection, only receive God, the Father's grace and love that is found in His Son, Jesus Christ. If this sounds like you today;

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.
