This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Father, we thank you for the gift of salvation, may You continue to amaze us and give us understanding in all things for every season of our lives in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
Today's sharing is from the sermon on the Mount that Jesus shared in Matthew 5:3-12. When you read this Word, Jesus shows us the different kinds of people that God considers blessed based on their spiritual state. If you have been following this series, the Holy Spirit is taking us through a journey starting with God's people, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that were blessed despite the bondage and slavery they endured from their taskmasters. For example, when we consider the oppression they faced and we compare it with Jesus' sermon on the mount, we see that they endured persecution and were poor in spirit and for this reason they were considered blessed for theirs is the kingdom of heaven as seen Matthew 5:3 & 10.
When we also examine the reason behind their oppression from the enemy, it was because they were blessed people. Exodus 1:8 shows us how another leader who did not know Joseph rose to power and was concerned that the Hebrew people's prosperity would be an obstacle to the Egyptians' growth.
We also saw that the origin of the Hebrew people's blessing was from God. God promised Abraham in Genesis 22:18 that in his seed all the nations of the earth would be blessed because he obeyed God's voice.
When Abraham received this promise and covenant from God, he was under grace as the law had not yet been given through Moses. Abraham through his faith believed that what God had promised, He would indeed accomplish which made him righteous that is, his faith gave him right standing with God. So we see the children of Israel despite the bondage in Egypt, they were inherently blessed because of Abraham's blessing that God had bestowed upon their lives.
After the LORD God rescued them from Egypt with His powerful mighty hand, we also see that God wanted to make sure that He could dwell and live among His people. Despite the truth that the children of Israel were God's chosen and blessed people, they fell short concerning holiness because of sin and God is a holy God. So the LORD in His mercy, introduces the law through their leader Moses. The law was meant to be a tutor (Galatians 3:24) to orient and safely keep them in God's presence as the descendants of Jacob awaited on the glory that would be revealed in God's Son, Christ where all would be justified by faith in Him.
In the same manner God blessed Abraham by faith, is the same way the blessing of Christ's salvation comes upon anyone who receives it by faith through grace as seen in Ephesians 2:8. God's heart is still open for personal relationship with His sons and daughters because ultimately, we are all created for fellowship with Him for now salvation is for all Jew, Gentile, male, female, slave, or free (Galatians 3:28). This is the reason God sent His One and only Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Jesus reminds us in John 17:3 NKJV
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Invitation to salvation: God is love and He loves you and His arms are open wide just to receive you. Jesus in Matthew 18:12 says, that He would leave the ninety nine to go find that one lost sheep. There is no need for perfection, only receive God, the Father's grace and love that is found in His Son, Jesus Christ. If this sounds like you today;
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever. Thank you Father that because the Son has made me free, I am now free indeed." AMEN.
