Father God, thank you for this day, this week and as July ends, we thank you for this far that You have carried and brought us into the year. Right now, we ask for wisdom and understanding as the Word is shared in the name of Jesus. I also join my faith with a weary one in body or soul and speak Your comfort to them. May You surround them with Your presence for in Your presence is the fullness of joy in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Deuteronomy 6:24-25 (NKJV)

  1. "And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.

  2. Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us."

Amen, thank you LORD.

The above Scriptures are some of Moses' final instructions from the LORD God before the children of Israel enetred the promised land. Moses did not make it to the promised land but God made sure that he shared the law, stautues and commandments with His people before his death. As much as Joshua was the next leader who led the children of Israel into the promised land, the law never came through him. Joshua implemented what the LORD God had shared by Moses.

Shortly before these verses, Moses shared with God's people that in the event their children asked them about the meaning of the statutes, testimonies and judgments, the above verses would be their response. That is observing these commandments would preserve their lives and be their righteousness that is, give them right standing with God.

However, after Jesus' coming to earth to die for the sins of the world, we are reminded that righteousness with God is no longer based on our works. Galatians 2:16 says to us, "knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we might be jusitifed by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be jusitified."

As children of God, your righteousness is based on what Jesus has done and His finished works on the cross since we are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). Thanks be to God that in Christ's salvation is also the preservation of life. This is clearly shown in Ephesians 1:13-14 NLT, "And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom He promised long ago. The Spirit is God's guarantee that He will give us the inheritance he promised and that He has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify Him."

In addition, the new Testament in Galatians 5:14 (NKJV) continues to remind us, "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Basically if you love your neighbor as you love yourself, you will inevitably walk in obedience to all God's commandments because this act embodies God's character. Romans 5:5 tells us that it is possible to love your neighbor as you love yourself because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

I'll end with this Word found in Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NKJV)

23. "Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

  1. But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the LORD."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to be born again into God's Kingdom, that is saved and have a personal relationship with God as Your Father and you as His child by receiving His Son, Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, I invite you to say this confession:

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.

Congratulations, YOU'VE BEEN REDEEMED by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen. In case you do not already, please join a church community and get water baptized!
