Your soul is saved

Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you for Your Word, may You open up the eyes of our understanding as we read and share the Word in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV)

19. "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

20. but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Amen, thank you LORD.

First of all, Jesus Christ is your treasure.

Let say this together

"Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is my treasure and nobody can break in and steal Him because my heart and all that belongs to me is with Him, Amen."

Jesus Christ saved you and what did He save? Your mind, your will and your emotions. The soul is known to comprise of these three. As Lord and Saviour of the body of Christ, Jesus is the Chief Shepherd and Overseer of our souls (1 Peter 2:25). This means there is no one, literally, more interested in your arrival to heaven like Jesus and God, the Father.

Mind

As one who has been saved by Jesus;

With your mind, You love God (Mark 12:30-31)

Your mind is renewed by the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2). That is, as you read the Word of God, the Word transforms your way of thinking by giving you a revelation of God and of your identity in Christ.

With your mind, You serve the law of God (Romans 7:25)

In this new covenant, God puts His law in your mind (Hebrews 8:10)

As a born again/saved child of God, you also have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

Emotions

God does not take away emotions when you become born again. Some examples of emotion include, love, sympathy, compassion, kindness. On the other hand, fear, anger and betrayal are emotions as well.

According to Miriam Webster dictionary, "an emotion is a conscious mental action subjectively experienced as a strong feeling usually directed toward a specific object (or subject) and accompanied by a psychological and behavioural change in the body."

The above definition of an emotion shows us that feeling an emotion may lead to a response in body as well. For instance, because you know you are loved, it will be reflected in your actions. When you are merciful, you will cheerfully show mercy and forgive as well (Romans 12:8). The fruit of the Spirit is what Jesus called it and He said, "...by their fruit, You will know them." (Matthew 7:16)

However, it is important to note that when you become born again, God will give you His emotions and His desires. 1 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV says, "But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him."

For instance, as a child of God, when the fruit of the Spirit called love (Galatians 5:22-23) is active in You by God's power, you may find yourself choosing to love and forgive someone who did hurtful things to you from your past. Again, this is made possible with God's help. So as you engage in God's Word and prayer, Jesus circumcises your heart to have His desires, emotions and renews your mind which will later be reflected in your actions. Galatians 2:20 NKJV says, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Will

When one becomes born again, you are delivered from 'self will' to serve the will and the purposes of God. One cannot speak of service to God without highlighting the importance of your will to God's ways. In case you are wondering, it is possible to be obedient and unwilling but the LORD says in Isaiah 1:19 says, "If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land." This verse shows us that your willingness and your obedience to serving God with your life are both important.

Further more, Colossians 3:22-24 (NKJV) reminds us,

22. "Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eye service as man pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.

23. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

24. knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."

To serve heartily means doing something with enthusiasm, sincerely and genuinely. Biblically, heartily may mean serving with total commitment. As shared earlier, Romans 12:2 reminds us that the Word of God renews the mind in order for you to ascertain what is the good, perfect and acceptable will of the Father for your life. As a child of God, when you know the Father's will, you are obedient to His will. In John 4:39 and in John 6:38, we see that Jesus did not come to do His own will but the will of the Father who sent Him. Ephesians 5:17 reminds us that as God's children, we should understand what the will of the LORD is concerning our lives. Sometimes, you may not always know the Father's will right away, but in these moments continue to be faithful wherever you are and in whatever you do and God in His faithfulness and love will order your steps.

I'll end with this Word found in Romans 8:33 (AMP)

"Who will bring any charge against God's elect (His chosen ones)? It is God who justifies us [declaring us blameless and putting us in right relationship with Himself]."

"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins so that I could have a new life where I am dead to sin and alive to God. I repent of my past sins and enter the Kingdom of light where I choose relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and with God as my loving Father today and forever." AMEN.
